Mr. Justin Stanton
Assistant Director of Bands
Mr. Justin Stanton joined the Poplar Bluff Sho-Me Band in the Fall of 2008. Mr. Stanton
attended Evangel University from 2003-2007 where he earned his degree in Music Education.
Studying trombone as his primary instrument under Dr. Michael Kolstad, he also played in
multiple ensembles on electric bass. While attending Evangel he was involved in University
Band, Jazz Band, University Orchestra, Chorale, and Concert Orchestra (where he traveled to
over 35 states, Canada, and 7 countries in Europe performing in various venues). In the fall of ’
06 he was selected to participate in a conducting mentorship under Dr. Larry Dissmore of
Evangel during the university’s production of My Fair Lady which included conducting
multiple rehearsals and a full public performance.
He is currently working towards a Masters in Education from Arkansas State University in
Jonesboro.
Along with studying music at Evangel, Mr. Stanton participated in a yearlong choral
conducting/church music mentorship with the National Music Director of the Assemblies of
God, Rev. Tom Matrone. Besides playing electric, acoustic, and bass guitar at Central
Assembly of God (Springfield, MO) he played Electric and Acoustic Guitar for multiple National
Assembly of God events including National Prayer Summits, Missionary Commissioning
services, National Music Conference ‘07, and the ’07 General Council held in Indianapolis, IN.
He married his wife Kara in December of 2007. He enjoys racquetball, home theater, fishing,
socializing, NASCAR and spending time with Kara.
