Minutes of Sho-Me Band Booster Meeting
February 19th, 2009
Meeting was called to order by Vice President, Jeanie Irvin. SECRETARY REPORT
Secretary report was presented by Tammy Bostic. Motion to accept was made by Susan Reindl, Jeanie Irvin 2nd, motion
carried.
TREASURER REPORT
Treasurer report was given by Jeanna Kayser. A breakdown of the general account was presented with a list of deposits and
bills that had been paid.
Half of the payment was put down as a deposit for the new Marching Program. Tammy Bostic made a motion to accept, Mr.
Winters 2nd, motion carried.
BAND DIRECTOR'S REPORT
The District Jazz Concert held on February 12th went well. The students that participated in this event were: T.J. Irvin, Ryan
Nely, Keyven Dunn and Hank Rainbolt as alternate. Mr. Stanton reported the students did an "awesome" job.
There is a Concert Festival on Thursday, February 26th at 6:30 p.m. at TRCC. The clinician for this festival is Dr. Doug
Leibinger. Bands participating are: Puxico, Dexter, Doniphan and Poplar Bluff. There will be a $3.00 admission charge for this
event.
There will be a Concert Band Contest on Tuesday, March 17th at TRCC.
The Jazz Band has a trip to St. Louis planned on April 17th and 18th to participate in a festival. They are planning to stay at the
Comfort Inn in Maryland Heights and spend some time at Six Flags.
Mr. Winters reported that he has been working on the big trip to Disney World that is planned for next year. He has been
looking at different itineraries as well as the cost for this trip.
Mr. Stanton reported there is a State Jazz Festival scheduled for Saturday, February 28th in Springfield, Mo. at SMS. The Studio
Band and the after school band are planning to participate in this one day event.
Mr. Winters reported that since Goody's went out of business we will not be receiving a grant. Jeanna Kayser made a motion
to accept, Tammy Bostic 2nd, motion carried.
FUND RAISER REPORT
Kara Stanton reported that there are two fundraising events to be held at Applebee's. One is scheduled for February 28th and
March 28th. Approximately 25 students will be needed as well as 5 or 6 parents to help. This event will be held from 8:00 a.m.
until 10:00 a.m. Tickets will be sold for $5.00 with the band receiving a $3.00 profit from each ticket sold. This will include all
you can eat pancakes, bacon and drink.
There will also be a 50/50 raffle held at the Spring Concert.
The band students will also be selling candles and other items in April.
A car wash is scheduled for May 9th, with a rain date of May 16th.
We will be checking to see if there is a date available to have a skate city night this spring.
Mr. Winters made a motion to accept, Mr. Stanton 2nd' motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Winters obtained a form to purchase the group picture that was taken at the Cardinal game. This will be posted on the
Band website.
NEW BUSINESS
Richard Barton resigned as president of the boosters due to personal reasons.
Mr. Winters requested funds to purchase two toners for the copy machine. Estimated cost is $32.00 each.
The Band Banquet will be scheduled for April 21st or the 28th. The Seniors will pick the theme. Tammy Bostic will contact the
5th and 6th grade center to see if these dates are available.
Jeannie Irvin made a motion to accept, Mr. Winters 2nd, motion carried.
Due to Spring Break being on the second Thursday of March, the next meeting is scheduled for March 19th at 6:30 p.m.
Mr. Winters made a motion to adjourn, Mr. Stanton 2nd.
