Minutes of Sho-Me Band Booster Meeting
July 24, 2008
Meeting was called to order by President, Richard Barton.
SECRETARY REPORT
Secretary report was presented by Tammy Bostic. Motion to accept was made by Jeanna Kayser, Jeanie Irvin 2nd, motion carried.
TREASURER REPORT
Treasurer report was given by Jeanna Kayser. The Cardinal money has been deposited in the checking account as well as funds for
band camp. There was discussion on needing someone to head up fund raising for the color guards, so they can pay for their
uniforms.
Richard Barton requested bank statements for 2006 -2007 beginning and ending balances to complete financial report.
Mr. Winters made a motion, Tammy Bostic 2nd, motion carried.
FUND RAISER REPORT
Richard Barton reported that approximately $43.40 was made off of Hat Day and $123.00 for Dress Down Days that students and
teachers participated in this past May.
Mr. Winters is checking with different companies that sale fruit.
Suggestions for fundraisers were discussed such as: Applebee’s Breakfast (students would sale tickets for a pancake breakfast and
serve) and candle sales.
It was discussed to have a percentage of the band card sales go to the students for the band trip in 2010.
Jeanna Kayser made a motion to accept, Jeannie Irvin 2nd, motion carried.
BAND DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Mr. Winters informed those present at the meeting that Mr. Corey Emerson had taken a Band Director’s position in Arkansas to be
closer to his wife. Justin Stanton has been hired for the Assistant Band Director’s position.
Mr. Winters discussed the upcoming band camp. The Drum Line and Color Guard camp will be held Monday, July 28th thru Thursday,
July 31st. Band Camp will be held from Monday, August 4th thru Friday, August 8th. Ice Cream Social and preview will be held
at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8th.
Mr. Winters discussed purchasing new uniforms in the near future.

OLD BUSINESS
Richard Barton checked in to getting a post office box, but there has to be a street address listed.
Jeanna Kayser is still working on getting a money market account opened up, she is checking with First Midwest. This needs to be set
up for the trip money.
Fundraisers need to be done to go toward the Florida trip in 2010. Parents may want to start thinking ahead regarding this trip.
The Drill Rider cost $1200.00, there are 104 marching spots.
NEW BUSINESS
Richard Barton has kicked off the Corporate Sponsorship Donation Campaign. The Eagles donated $500.00 ($250.00 from the men
and $250.00 from the women). A picture was taken by the DAR with the Men and Women of the Auxiliary.
It is being discussed on different ways we might recognize corporate sponsors.
It was mentioned that it would look nice to have the bands picture put on our thank you letters, we will need to get permission from the
photographer regarding this.
The Calendar sales need to be completed.
Band Cards are almost completed and will be ready to go to the printers.
Refreshments need to be served at Band Camp a couple of evenings. Ideas of serving watermelon and popsicles were mentioned,
plus ice cream for the social.
Mr. Winters mentioned that the uniform roster needs to be made.
Richard Barton discussed chartering a tour bus for the Cardinal Trip on September 25th. It would cost $975.00 to charter this bus with
a capacity of 47-55 people. It would cost $20.00 per person. A sign up sheet needs to be made to have at the ice cream social. A flyer
will also be made up for the students to hand out to their parents and friends regarding interest in chartering a bus.
Mr. Winters requested to purchase a new stereo receiver for the Band Room, he could purchase one for $80.00.
Mr. Winters said he was having some tuba issues, he has 6 tuba players and only 4 tubas. Shivelbines will rent tubas for $175.00
each for the season. Mr. Winters is going to wait until school begins to see if this is still a problem.
Mr. Winters made a motion to adjourn, Jeanna Kayser 2nd.
An informational booster meeting will be held on August 8th the evening of the ice cream social.
